Wash Day Protocol — Step by Step
01

24-Hour Pre-Poo

Night before · Dry hair · Ayurvedic penetrating treatment

Night Before
24 hrs
Avocado OilCoconut OilJBCOChebe PowderCastor OilVitamin E OilRosemary (dried)
Chebe Penetrating Overnight Butter
2 tbspChebe powder
3 tbspAvocado oil
2 tbspCoconut oil (melted)
1 tbspJamaican Black Castor Oil
1 tspVitamin E oil
5 dropsRosemary essential oil
Mix Chebe into warm coconut oil first to dissolve. Add remaining oils. Apply section by section to dry, detangled hair from mid-shaft to ends — avoid scalp. Cover with plastic cap then satin bonnet. Sleep in it. Full 24 hrs is when penetration occurs.
Chebe: Prevents hygral fatigue — the repeated swelling and contracting cycle that causes breakage in high-porosity hair. The resin compounds coat the shaft, reducing moisture absorption rate.

Avocado Oil: One of the only plant oils that penetrates the hair shaft (not just coats it). Contains oleic and linoleic acid that displace moisture-absorbing water from the cortex.

JBCO: Ricinoleic acid increases scalp circulation by up to 14× with massage. Not just lubrication — actual vasodilation of follicular capillaries.

Coconut Oil: Reduces protein loss by up to 39% when applied pre-wash (published in Journal of Cosmetic Science). Most effective when applied to dry hair and left 24 hrs.

Ayurvedic Scalp Rinse Pre-Wash

Applied before shampoo · Scalp treatment · Stimulates growth

Wash Day
30–45 min
BhringrajBrahmiFenugreekMustard OilSesame OilNeemAmlaHibiscus
Bhringraj Growth Scalp Oil
2 tbspBhringraj powder
1 tbspBrahmi powder
1 tbspFenugreek (ground)
3 tbspMustard oil
3 tbspSesame oil
1 tbspNeem powder
1 tspAmla powder
Combine powders with oils in a small pot. Add powders, stir. Simmer 5–7 min on lowest heat — do NOT boil. Cool to warm-touch. Strain through cheesecloth. Apply to scalp with dropper or fingertips, massage 5 min. Apply remainder to hair. Cover with plastic cap + hooded dryer 30 min. Shampoo out thoroughly.

Batch note: Make 4–6× this recipe. Refrigerate in dark glass. Good for 3–4 weeks.
Bhringraj (Eclipta alba): Clinically shown to promote anagen (growth) phase in multiple peer-reviewed studies. Contains wedelolactone and ecliptine — DHT inhibitors. Critical for stimulant-medication users where vasoconstriction reduces scalp blood flow.

Brahmi (Bacopa): Strengthens keratin protein structure and reduces breakage. Also supports cognitive function — relevant if taking Adderall.

Fenugreek: Contains lecithin (acts as deep conditioner) and diosgenin (phytoestrogen — counteracts DHT-related hormone imbalance in hair).

Mustard Oil: Strong scalp stimulant and antifungal. Highest erucic acid content of any cooking oil — penetrates scalp layers.

Adderall Note: Stimulants cause vasoconstriction (reduced blood flow to extremities, including scalp). This oil blend directly counteracts that mechanism.

Shampoo

Clarify or moisture-wash depending on week

Wash Day
Oribe Gold Lust Repair ShampooDesign Essentials Oat Protein & Henna ShampooChi Infra ShampooNizoral (monthly only)Natural Black Soap (clarify)
Ambunu Co-Wash Method
Ambunu Cleansing Method
2–3 tbspAmbunu (dried or fresh)
2 cupsWarm water
Steep Ambunu in warm water 15–20 min. Strain and use liquid to massage scalp and coat hair sections. The mucilage acts as both cleanser and conditioner simultaneously. No shampoo needed on low-buildup weeks. Works best on weeks 2 of 4 in rotation.
Ambunu: West African plant used for centuries. The mucilage coating mimics commercial silicone conditioning agents but is water-soluble (no buildup). Contains saponins for gentle cleansing without stripping the acid mantle.

Nizoral (once monthly): Ketoconazole — antifungal that also blocks DHT receptors at the scalp. Clinical studies show 3–5× improvement in hair shedding with monthly use. Do not overuse — disrupts scalp microbiome.

Clarify monthly: Product buildup on high-porosity hair seals the cuticle shut, preventing moisture absorption. Monthly clarification is non-negotiable.
04

Deep Condition (with Heat)

Rotation-based · Must use heat for high-porosity hair

20–30 min heat
Rinse cool
Oribe Gold Lust Transformative MaskMizani Fiberfyl (protein weeks)CER-100 Collagen Ceramide TreatmentAphogee Protein TreatmentHigh Pro PackORS Banana Bamboo ConditionerShea Moisture Mask (base)
Boosted DC Mixture (Week 1 — Moisture)
3 tbspOribe Gold Lust Mask (or any moisture DC)
1 tbspAvocado oil
1 tbspCollagen Protein Hydrolyzed powder
1 tspGlycerin
1 tspHibiscus powder
Mix all until smooth. Apply to soaking-wet clean hair in sections, mid-shaft to ends. Cover with plastic cap. Sit under hooded dryer 20–30 min. Rinse with cool water only — cold water seals the cuticle. Do not use hot water for final rinse.
GK Keratin Treatment: Applied treatment. Benefits last 3–5 months. No SLS shampoos. Do not wash for 72 hrs after application. Avoid excessive heat above 450°F without Oribe Balm d'Or.

Mizani Fiberfyl: Bond-building protein treatment — one of the most sophisticated protein technologies available. Leave 5–10 min MAX. Always follow with a moisture DC immediately. Signs of protein overload: stiff, brittle, snapping hair — reduce protein frequency.

CER-100: Ceramide infusion. Ceramides are the lipid "mortar" between hair cells. Chemical processing depletes them. This is restorative infrastructure work, not just conditioning.

Cool rinse: The hair cuticle closes at lower temperatures. Rinsing with cold water physically locks treatment into the cortex.
05

ACV Seal Rinse

Post-DC · Closes cuticle · pH balance

Optional
Post-DC
ACV Scalp Rinse
2 tbspApple Cider Vinegar (raw, with mother)
1 cupWater (filtered or cool)
1 tspGreen tea (brewed, cooled)
Combine in spray bottle. Apply after DC rinse — work into scalp and through lengths. Leave 2–3 min. Rinse thoroughly with cool water. Do not leave on — 1:8 ratio is safe, undiluted is not.
Why ACV works: Healthy hair pH is 4.5–5.5. Most shampoos and treatments push hair to pH 7–9 (alkaline), which raises the cuticle and causes frizz, tangles, and color fade. ACV (pH 3) restores the acid mantle and physically closes the cuticle.

Green tea: Catechins in green tea inhibit DHT production at the follicle level. Combined with the rinse, it's a functional scalp treatment alongside the pH balance.

LCO — For High-Porosity Hair
L: Leave-in conditioner C: UBH Satin CreamC: Wired Flexible Styling Cream O: Keracare Silken Seal (sealant last)O: Hollywood Beauty Biotin Oil
LCO for high porosity: Your hair absorbs liquid fast. Putting oil second (under cream) traps moisture better when cuticle is raised.
LOC Science: Each layer serves a molecular function. Liquid water-based products penetrate the cortex. Oil prevents water evaporation by coating the cuticle. Cream seals everything and adds a protective flexible layer.

Leven Rose Jojoba: Structurally closest to human sebum (squalene content). The scalp can't distinguish it from its own oil — no overproduction response.

Keracare Silken Seal: Final locking step. Liquid sheen with silicone-adjacent sealing chemistry — locks the LOC/LCO stack in place for up to 5–7 days.

Hollywood Beauty Biotin Oil: Biotin penetrates the cortex in oil form more effectively than topical biotin serums. Consistent daily use supports keratin production at the shaft level.
