Building Character to Build Communities

OUR WORK

Since 1978, EOYDC has provided transformative programming and mentorship to youth of Oakland. A comprehensive analysis of responses from 315 alumni revealed EOYDC alumni transition into responsible, educated, economically self-sufficient, engaged citizens. We attribute the success of our students to our character based leadership model. This model is delivered in 3 main categories:

Structure & Exposure

We prepare students to succeed in any environment by exposing them to worlds outside of their own. Students gain valuable exposure and experience through domestic travel, visiting college campuses across the nation, and through international delegation programs, visiting countries across the globe. Students gain interpersonal skills, confidence, and subject matter expertise as they are empowered to contribute to organizational and thought leadership through student-led programming.

Evidence of program effectiveness are the high instances of student travel, independence and self confidence.
